Technology and Innovation

If we are to improve UK industrial competitiveness through the development and exploitation of electronic technologies, we must examine the strengths of the UK's science base and how it compares to our international competitors. We need to understand what steps are needed to improve the commercialisation of R&D spend, identify the technology priorities of the UK electronics sector and work to see them developed and exploited.

The Technology and Innovation Workstream has will look at how to address major EIGT innovation/technology recommendations. Its core tasks and objectives are:

• to identify the technology priorities of the UK electronics sector;
• to influence the DTI and European Union (EU) technology strategies; and
• to work with the sector to exploit the UK Technology Programme and the EU Framework.
