Supply chain activities

Raising awareness

The Supply Chain Workstream's first aim is to spread the word about the benefits of supply chain management across the UK-based electronics industry. We want to work with as wide a network as possible to do this. Activities we are currently planning include:

  • developing compelling 'case studies' to demonstrate the practical advantages of better supply chain management;
  • joining up with the Electronics Alliance of industry trade associations and representative bodies, to reach their member companies and communicate our core messages;
  • participating in events and seminars around the country, in partnership with SEMTA and the Regional Development Agencies in England and their counterparts in other parts of the UK, to bring together companies and high-quality training providers to examine supply chain issues; and
  • engaging with major customers of UK-based electronics SMEs to help them encourage their suppliers to improve their supply chain management.

As our work progresses, we will publish details of events and other awareness-raising activities on this page.

If you have an interest in improving supply chain management in the UK-based electronics industry, and can help us to get our message across to companies and those who work with them, we would like to hear from you – see the contact details for the ELC Secretariat for the Supply Chain Workstream.

Decision-making tools

Our dialogue with the industry about the value of supply chain management will help to give us a good picture of what tools the industry needs to make better supply chain decisions. At the same time, we are exploring the range of tools available and assessing how useful they could be to the different parts of the industry. We will publish our findings and our follow-up plans on this website.

Managing the impact of regulation

This is a longer-term priority but, as a first step, we will explore the key challenges and opportunities posed by regulation with the new Electronics Regulatory Group of industry experts, which  BERR has set up as recommended by the EIGT.
